Thank you to Kyle and Kyle Ranches of Lancaster, California for your support.
Also, a big THANK YOU to all of our friends and family who have helped us through the difficulties of this past year in seeing that the horses were fed through the winter months. We couldn't have done it without you.
Rural Veterinary Experience, Teaching and Service (RVETS)
is a 501(c) 3 non- profit organization. We operate entirely on donations from people who believe in us and what we do and who like us think that what we do is important.
The RVETS mission is to promote quality and affordable veterinary care in under served rural areas in the USA and abroad, by providing veterinary students with practical experience and training in the medicine and surgery of horses and other animals. Further, in exposing students to the needs
of these communities we encourage future veterinarians to choose rural service as a career.
Our Gelding Program
In November of 2013, we started a new program working with the organization R-VETS and gelding some of the horses. Our intent is to slow down the reproduction of this herd while we work diligently to increase our adoptions. We simply have too many horses for the amount of graze during these extreme drought conditions. It will be a few years before we see a marked reduction in the herd size, but we hope to have a more manageable herd where ultimately we will have foals and yearlings available for adoption each year. R-VETS has assisted us twice per year, typically in July and September.
